Cannabis tea

What is cannabis tea?

Weed tea is tea made from cannabis leaves. These cannabis leaves contain the cannabinoids THC and CBD, the active substances that provide the high.

However, unlike regular tea, weed tea is not infused with leaves. Infusion may dissolve the taste into the hot water, but the active ingredients THC and CBD will not be transferred. For this reason, cannabis tea is prepared in a different way.

There is a lot of variation in cannabis tea. So, you can make it as difficult or easy as you want.

Why make cannabis tea?

There are several reasons why people choose cannabis tea. It may be that one prefers drinking tea to smoking a joint to spare the lungs, although the effects will then take a bit longer to set in. It may also be the case that one simply enjoys the taste more.

In general, there are two reasons why one chooses weed tea:

Medicinal use. Medicinal use involves tea with a negligible concentration of THC, and a high concentration of CBD. This tea is also called hemp tea and can be bought ready-made.

Recreational use. If you want to use cannabis tea for recreational purposes, the tea needs to contain the active ingredient THC. This tea is not for sale, so you will have to make it yourself. The advantage is then that you can create your ideal ratio….

What are the effects of cannabis tea?

How the effects of cannabis manifest themselves depends partly on the method of ingestion. For instance, the effect of an edible can be different from that of a joint, which in turn can differ from the effect of cannabis tea.

Broadly speaking, the effect of weed tea is milder than smoking a joint but lasts longer. The effect is mainly physical and is not as strong. However, you can enhance the effect by drinking more of the tea or by using different proportions when making the tea.

How long does it take for weed tea to work?

The effects of cannabis tea take a bit longer to take effect and are similar to edibles in this. It only comes on after about an hour. The peak effect is reached after 4 to 8 hours. So, keep this in mind when you decide to make a cup of weed tea.

What are the ingredients for cannabis tea?

Weed tea can be made in many different flavours. We will offer a standard cannabis recipe here. You can then experiment with different flavours yourself to create a tea you really like.

An important point to consider when making weed tea is the cannabis leaf you use. This is because not every leaf is suitable for making tea. The only leaves that are suitable are those that have THC crystals on them. Cutting waste can always be used.

These are the ingredients needed to make cannabis tea:

  • 1 litre of water
  • 1 coffee cup of cutting waste
  • 2 tea bags with a flavour of your choice
  • Butter or milk
  • Desired amount of honey and sugar

How to make cannabis tea?

Have you gathered the above ingredients? Then you can get started. Follow the steps below to create a delicious weed tea that contains the active ingredients THC and CBD.

  1. First of all, it is necessary to extract the cannabinoids. You do this by using a fat solvent such as butter. The active substances CBD and THC bind to it. So, mix the cutting waste with a small amount of butter.
  2. Bring the water to a boil.
  3. Once the water boils, add the butter mix with the clippings to the water in a tea infuser.
  4. Let this boil for 15 minutes until the clippings are soft. Make sure the liquid doesn’t boil too hard, this could be at the expense of the active ingredients.
  5. Add a flavoured tea bag, honey, or sugar as desired and continue boiling for 5 minutes.
  6. Have small particles escaped from the tea infuser? Then you can strain your tea through a sieve. This way you can fully enjoy your delicious cannabis tea.

Tip: Do not add more cutting waste than indicated the first time you make cannabis tea. The effect might then be too strong. After trying the tea a few times, you can experiment with the amounts and concentrations of THC and CBD yourself.
